Rehabilitation and Retirement
Our Mission
Mission: Our mission is to provide a safe and stable environment for equines that are procured through individual placement, purchase, slaughterhouses, meat dealers, and private party placement of elderly equines.
Rehabilitation: When an equine arrives on the farm it will be put in 30 day quarantine. While in quarantine the equine will have a veterinary check up, worming, shots, hoof care, and an assessment of its general health. Dependent on the equine's health, special feed and medication will be administered. Afterwards, the equine will start rehabilitation to break any bad habits and to be able to trust people again.
Outreach Program: The outreach program combines out equine rescues with adults and youths with developmental disabilities, as well as troubled youths that have come from a difficult background.
Youth Organizations: Mount Pleasant Farm invites youth organizations, school groups, Boy and Girl Scouts, and 4-H Clubs to participate with the care and enjoyment of the equine.
Fund Raising: The proper rehabilitation of an equine is very costly. Mountain Equine Rescue sponsors tours and open houses to school groups, business organizations, youth activities and general public. This gives an awareness to the community on the expenses on the rehabilitation of an equine. come.
